Bridges reaches today's men and women with the message of faith and hope. Bridges goes beyond the convention of TV "talk and magazine" shows by going to the root of today's challenges and issues. Bridges embraces a biblical world-view and works to mend the brokenness of contemporary culture by building connections between God and people.

Bridges is the flagship program on Nashville's Christian Television Network and is hosted by Monica M. Schmelter. Monica is the General Manager of Nashville's Christian Television Network.  

Monica is the General Manager of the Christian Television Network affiliate WHTN-TV and Host of daily television program called "Bridges". Today, you see a woman dedicated to reaching people in the name of Christ. You see a devoted wife, loving mother and a successful career woman. The woman you see today is an example of the dramatic change Jesus can manifest in the life of a person that pursues Him with all their heart and soul as Monica does.  

There is a point in every Christian life where we are able to look back and see with clarity what the Lord has brought us through, with humility at what He has created us for, and with hope for what lies ahead. Monica Schmelter passionately embraces the life God has given her. The journey to this Christ-centered life has not been without bumps and detours, but has made the reality of her Salvation a priceless treasure.

Monica knew early on that something was missing in her life, but didn’t know how to fill that emptiness. She entered her teenage years desperately seeking something to fill that void. She tried smoking, alcohol and experimenting with drugs, all in an effort to dull the pain she felt. Feelings of insecurity, not knowing who she was in Christ left Monica with feelings of anger and hatred toward others. But true to His Word, God would redeem those years and make beauty from ashes.

God met Monica in a powerful and personal way one evening at a healing service her family attended on behalf of her younger brother who was born with Down Syndrome. Something in the message spoke to her and she answered a call to come to the altar for prayer. All of her unresolved anger and pain came rushing out. “I had no idea where all those tears were coming from, but as I look back on it, it was the line that I crossed in my life that I’ll never forget. There are no words to describe the experience of how I went from being rebellious and yelling and swearing under my breath to accepting Jesus. In that moment, God met me. It was miraculous. My life has never been the same since that point.

Monica would take her new passion for Christ and study mass communications in college. This course of study would later open a door for her at Christian Television Network just outside of Nashville. There she hosts a daily talk show called “Bridges” where she has the pleasure of interviewing Christian artists, authors, pastors and community leaders.

Monica is an example of one person fully surrendering themselves to Christ. This once rebellious and angry young woman allowed God to use her in such a way that no one could have dreamed. She enthusiastically shares her journey so that others will take their own steps of faith, becoming all that Christ created them for, one step at a time.

In the fall of 2008, God called Monica to take the next step and with that she started Monica Speaks. MonicaSpeaks.com is an all encompassing website offering information on booking Monica to speak at your next event, information about her book Right Sizing Your Life and a blog where Monica shares her personal struggles so she can continues to fulfill her life mission, to share that regardless of our culture, background, education, social or economic status that God is a good God and that He’s got a good plan for each one of us.”.
